How to Prepare Chettinad Chicken

Chettinad Chicken


Ingredients

  • Chicken - 1 kg
  • Ginger - 3/4 inch
  • Ginger garlic paste - 2 tbsp
  • Black pepper - 1/2 tbsp
  • Coriander powder - 2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Termeric powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Curry Leaves - 2 twigs
  • Onion - 4
  • Tomato - 2
  • Green chilies - 4

Preparation

  • Smear the chicken pieces with turmeric powder and salt. Now heat the oil in a large pan. Add cumin seeds, fennel seeds, black pepper, poppy seeds, green chilies and curry leaves.
  • Saute and take out the spices.Keep it aside.
  • Now add finely chopped onions and ginger-garlic paste in the remaining oil.
  • Fry till the onion turn golden brown.
  • Now add tomato, coriander powder, sautes spices and chicken to the above.
  • Add salt according to the taste and fry the mixture for another 5 min.
  • Put the lid and let the chicken cook for about half and hour.
  • The gravy turn almost dry, if required add little bit of water.
  • When the chicken become soft, put off the flame, now Chettinad chicken is ready to serve.
